Students share how to behave responsibly in different situations as they move through Responsibility Land.
One of our center activities is to decorate bookmarks. These remind us to show responsibility by remembering to read for AT LEAST 20 minutes every night! This month in the Counseling Classroom, we are reading and discussing "Carla's Sandwich." Carla shows us that... - We don't have to return rude for rude, we can stand up for ourselves and still show respect. - We should use our powers of leadership and popularity for good and not evil! - We have to respect ourselves and have the confidence and courage to be true to who we really are! Polite Pigs matching is one of the center rotations for small groups in the Counseling Classroom. Our character trait this month is respect, this game focuses on how we show respect with our polite words! One of my favorite tools for helping students to begin reflecting on where their strengths and interests lie is with the Color Quiz. This will be one of our activities (3rd-5th) in our Career Counseling lessons in the weeks to come. Take one yourself! Which category do you think your COUNSELOR falls into (hint, there's your hint)??
Find the Links to Color Quiz and Color Quiz Results on my COLLEGE PLANNING page. Career Counseling sessions in the Computer Lab have begun! In other to meet the CCRPI (college and career readiness performance index) requirements set forth by the GA DOE (Georgia Department of Education); elementary students must learn about the 17 Career Clusters in Georgia. This means extra time with our awesome students and is in line with Fulton County's goals for graduation, college and career readiness. Whew- that was a mouthful. I will include a link to the 17 Career Clusters for your light reading pleasure... Check out the Career Exploration page and see some of the cool things your students are learning. |
